Leslie W. Miller, M.D., F.ACC

Dr. Leslie W. Miller serves as the Chairman of the Cardiovascular Sciences Department and the Edwards C. Wright Professor of Medicine at the University of South Florida — South Tampa Heart Health.

He received his Medical Degree from the University Of Missouri, School Of Medicine. His postgraduate training includes serving as Chief Resident in Medicine at Washington University and Barnes Hospital, Missouri. He trained in Cardiology at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, and was a Senior Resident in Surgery at Boston University. Before coming to USF, Dr. Miller served as Professor and Director of Cardiology at Washington Hospital Center, Georgetown School of Medicine. He also held the Walters Chair in Cardiovascular Medicine at Georgetown University and was the Division Director and the Director of the Heart Failure/ Heart Transplant Program of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Miller was the President of the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation and the American Society of Transplant Physicians. He has been the investigator in over 80 clinical trials studying the safety and efficacy of therapies for heart failure, cardiac transplantation and ventricular assist devices. He has also contributed more than 285 medical papers and serves on the editorial boards and as a reviewer for major cardiovascular journals

Dr. Miller’s clinical interests include treatment of Heart Failure and management of Ventricular Assist Devices. His research focuses on stem cell therapy, new heart failure medications, heart transplant and the role of cardiac assist devices.
