Dr. Cristina Milesi, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Cristina Milesi is the Scientific Director of the Institute for Public Health & Environment in Palo Alto, California. Her research focuses on human environment interactions and its impacts on public health through epidemiological studies of the general population.

Prior to joining the Institute for Public Health & Environment, she was a senior research scientist with NASA Ames Research Center and California State University Monterey Bay. During her tenure at NASA, Dr. Milesi has worked and published on the effects of agricultural change on the food and water systems, on monitoring global urbanization with satellite data, on climate change and human adaptation, and on the use of collaborative supercomputing platforms for scientific collaboration, knowledge sharing and research.

Dr. Milesi has been a NASA Earth System Science Fellow (2000-2003), a National Research Council Fellow (2004) and is a recipient of several NASA Group Awards. She has master in science degree in Biology from the University of Trieste, Italy, where she graduated magna cum laude, and a PhD in ecosystem modeling and remote sensing from the University of Montana.
