Mark J. Muehlbach, Ph.D., F.AASM

Dr. Mark Muehlbach is the Clinical Director of the The Clinics at Clayton Sleep Institute.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and has 30 years’ experience in sleep and sleep disorders research.  He has been the lead investigator on several published research projects and co-authored more than 40 publications on sleep-related topics.

After completing his training at the first accredited sleep laboratory in St. Louis, under the direction of one of the first board-certified sleep specialists, Muehlbach earned his board certification in Sleep medicine.  He was also one of the field’s first registered sleep technologists.  He continues his commitment to the practice of sleep medicine and healthy sleep for all patients in his work at the CSI clinics.

Muehlbach is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University Medical School, and an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Webster University.  He designed and launched a specialized course, “The Psychology of Sleep,” for Webster, where it is consistently over-subscribed in student registration.  In 2011, Webster University recognized Muehlbach with the William T. Kemper Award for Best Teacher among their adjunct professors, one of two awarded to adjunct faculty selected from the University’s national and international campuses.

Muehlbach earned is B.A. degree in Psychology from Saint Louis University, and continued there to complete his M.S. in Research and Ph.D. in Applied-Experimental Psychology.  He is a Fellow of the American Association of Sleep Medicine and a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
